Does this apply to all soap opera's over the world?

i am british, so our main soap opera's here are EAST ENDERS, and CORONATION STREET. i love to watch both of these, but i dont understand the producers sometimes. they are always saying that they make these soaps very close to real life, with real life issues, but then they tend to miss out the smaller issues, for e.g. why is almost everyone in the pub every afternoon? they all supposed to be working! is there nothing else to eat on your lunch break, either than "bettys hotpot" and a liquid lunch! and why dont you ever hear of someone saying " excuse me, i just need to nip to the loo!! east enders for e.g, apparently everyone is working, but no-one seems to have a washing machine, as they ALL go to the laundrette!!! and when was the last time that you went into a club on a weekend, when there was only 10 or less people in!! has anyone else ever noticed something in tv programmes or soaps that just does not happen in real life. be good to hear your comments. thanks.

And they never cook, relying on the cafe or fish and chip shop for meals.
Please don't ruin it for the little ones.
It's just a representation...they have to create locations for the characters to meet..and would you REALLY like to meet some of the characters in Eastenders?
I have also notcied that. They are far featched from real life.
LMAO very true! same with hollyoaks why does every one do there weekly shop in the tiny drive n buy shop have these people never heard of supermarkets, and when they go out for there tea its always to tonys restaurant lol
%26gt;%26gt;LOL,,,great observation,,,On US soaps ,,we have people who come back from the dead,,Not just once!!!! And our Stars wake up looking better than I do on a GOOD DAY!! AND and on some of our soaps,,Los Angeles ( L.A.)seems to have only 10 men in city as the same 3 or 4 women have them back and forth%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;I think your soaps seem more real than ours%26gt;%26gt;.lol
all the time. I'm from the USA, the soap opera's we get are, General Hospital, All my children, one life to live, and it just keeps going on and on. It even seems like we have about 10 or 12 men on shows. The people come back from the dead way more the once, I forgot witch one this one was on, but they even put vampires in one of them. so cheesy. And someone is always getting killed, or blamed for the murder of so and so. They do have great story lines though. They can also be very emotional.
well compared to usa daytime soaps the uk ones Are more realistic-( we had EastEnders on in my area for many yrs but it's been gone for a couple yrs now)

in the usa Children in soaps are usually aged from 8 yr olds to teens overnight- and change hair and eye color!

currently in one soap nearly the whole town ( rich or working class) all live in the Same hotel ( saves $$ on sets)

People come back from the dead on a regular basis- one guy was lying FROZEN in a room Underneath the Hosptial for several yrs!

We rarely see people at work other than maybe: Police and maybe medical people- but they always have time to gossip and have affairs

There was a plot on one soap a few yrs back that the grieving man had his "dead" wife CLONED!

People have gone through mirrors to alturnative worllds, madmen try to take over the world by freezing the world, characters have micro chips planted in their brains, mobsters that are the "good guys" while the police/law are corrupt or stupid....all have are now or have been done on usa soaps

Oh yes one Has to mention Passions where there is a resident Witch ( who uses magic to get the "good" guys)

that has demons living in her basement and she had a Boy Doll that came to life_ Passions has been Way out there but it will end for good this summer---Port Charles had a Vampire Storyline
Yeah i was eatching my gfs video tapes of their american soaps and they arer just a sbad they are eather stinking rich or really poor the plot lines are so surreal. And no one is ever normal it confuses me.
I agree!! I watch Doctors and the way they fit in patients just walking in the surgery,the doctor getting involved in patients personal life,patients sitting with the doctor a long time giving their life history, doing home visits,getting through to the surgery and getting appointment the same day and doctors following up patients concerns and running after them.

This all makes me laugh as in reality I can't even get through to the doctor for an appointment when I have been very ill.

All the doctors should watch this programme and take notes to improve.

Or the producers should show the actual stress us patients go through when trying to see their doctor
