What do I wear to the royal opera house?

I'm going to see the nutcracker in the royal opera house tomorrow evening and can't seem to get a firm answer on a dress code. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks

I would dress up. How dressy is the question though right? How about a very nice Pant suit or the perfect Black dress with heals. Either of those outfits would be appropriate I think.
You can always wear a velvet suit ...
go in a swim suit
Hi,

I think you should wear a nice black dress with a Sterling sliver necklace. Also some nice heels.
An elegant dress (but not a ballgown), high heels, nice bag, nice hair.

Something you might wear to your freinds wedding
Perhaps dress smartly, maybe trouser suit, or a nice dress.

I think you'll find that such occasions are not as formal as they used to be. Opera should be enjoyed by anybody, regardless of dress or social standing.
Go for broke!

Let's face it, how often do we get the chance to dress up! As long as you feel comfortable with what you wear it think you can be as extrravagant as you want. Anything from a smart evening trouser suit with lots of jewelry to ankle length ball gown will be fine. Just take into account what your partner is wearing, if you turn up in ballgown when they're wearing jeans it could be a bit embarrassing!
I've never been to the Royal Opera House, but have been to local theatres many times. I should imagine that smart casual would do, but NOT jeans!
I don't think they're as fussy about dress code as they used to be, but I'd dress up as nice as possible anyway (any excuse to look good, right?). Maybe a nice black dress and some heels? I'd something long enough to look reasonably formal, with some delicate jewelry, strappy heels or pumps, and matching hose. And have fun :)
I go there all the time and there is no dress code there. Its not like Glyndebourne where you have to wear black tie. Some people go in jeans and trainers and some in nice formal wear. Really, its a huge mixture of different people from students to socialites. I usually take the middle ground and wear smart but relatively casual stuff like trousers and a fitted jumper. enjoy.
A formal dress or gown. I know at the Opera men wear tuxedos.
wear a little black dress

high heels

black tights

hair high

have fun
These days you can wear anything including jeans.

But you might want to dress up and make it a more special occassion.
