Why? Are the people that visit this site that stupid and uncultured? I personally find it hard to believe. How could there possible be so many SERIOUS answers about the color of the moon, while only one person has heard of the opera Esclarmonde?

Come on. You think the percentage of people who have info about the moon would be anywhere close to the percentage of people who know about a Massenet opera?
Well, I don't know what to tell you there. Except for, thanks for the insult. I mean, I wasn't here when you asked of any such thing but I am sure I would be very exasperated.
i dunno, the moon is the colour of the moon, and opera isn't my favorite kind of music so i have no idea who what is esclasmonde. there now you have two answers for your opera question. i really don't know why we are so stupid as you said. or why you think that. for me, i just get online to screw around and answer random questions about random stuff, this one caught my eye. i am sorry you feel that i am stupid and uncultured. i am not serious about what colour the moon is, i really don't care, the moon is beautiful and it lights up my very dark and lonely world, and opera is great for the people who like it. and i really have only heard opera in elevators, and i guess i didn't know that opera was any place else other than elevators and fancy dinning places. again i am sorry you feel this way about me.
Perhaps because most people see opera as an outmoded, elitist, somewhat irrelevant method of expression and examination of social values. More likely because many people on this site are knuckle-draggers who see the moon quite often and therefore feel competent to comment on its colour.

It's not a good idea when asking your question to refer to the people who visit this site as "stupid and uncultured". This is an insulting remark and perhaps, you would do better to try to keep your question friendly and/or neutral.

I love the moon and I love opera. However, I don't know the opera Esclarmonde. But I would be happy to learn all about it.

Some questions are difficult - they require specific knowledge and interest in the subject like the opera and some questions are easy - everyone can look at the moon and comment on the color.

So I think you should try to have realistic expectations and then perhaps you will be happier with your results.
