Hi, i have a question about best position for singing opera?microsoft publisher
Get a new teacher - there is no way you are a dramatic tenor or a light baritone - that's like saying you are skinny and obese. You are either skinny or obese, dramatic tenor or light baritone. Plus you are way too young to be a dramatic tenor.
After two years of study, you need to do more research on voice type and what's age appropriate for you - your post scares me because you can seriously damage your voice if you try to sing rep that's too heavy.
Your jaw and shoulders should always be free of tension. When you are ready to sing:
1. Intake air to fill rib cage and keep them out and open - keep everthing above your chest relaxed.
2. slowly press the gut muscles in to send the air to your mask on an "a" vowel.
3. try to smile while singing using your cheeks and not your lips, it's called an inside smile.
4. if your intake, air pressure, facial resonance and relaxation is all there, you should hear your true sound.
(Your mask is nose, soft palate, facial bones, eyes, upper molars. Remember to keep the face relaxed and tension free.)
