What should I wear to an opening night of the opera?

I'm 19, female, and in college. I've been invited to an opera in NYC in a few months.

Also, are there any other etiquette rules for young ladies at the opera? As far as how to walk, sit down, etc?

Thank you!

Wear your best, and act like its a former affair...

It must be a big thing, for whom ever asked you there, so, try to do your best to act like they are expecting you to, and try to please them, with your actions...

Be polite, and wear something nice and a good pair of earrings and some ligt jewerly.

Or, you could ask whom ever invited you, what they are expecting you to wear, and how to act, as you have never been to one, and let them know that you want to do the "right thing" by them as not to embarass them if they have friends and family there...

I wish you well..

Try this URL...Just remember to dress classy! When you walk, put your left heel in front of your right toe and visa-versa. Check out this site and it should get you ready!

I'd wear my "Get out of jail free" card. If you must go, (and it looks like you've got a few months to escape yet) make sure you take lots of popcorn for the popcorn fight in the intermission.
be kind as your behavior and as your dressing. choose a dress which one pleasant, classic, elagant but unexaggeration one.
Is there going to be a shrill soprano there?

For self preservation, I would strongly suggest a pair of earplugs that are colour coordinated with your outfit.
Just something simple but elegant. I'd wear black.
I would say wear an evening gown if you have one. If not,

just wear your best dress.
